What you need to know.
The anchorage is located north of Bokeelia (Pine Island), just to the NE of the Jug Creek Channel. This anchorage is protected in calm weather or with any winds from the South.
This is also a nice anchorage for overnight when winds are from the south.
Approx waypoint: 26° 42.4' N 082° 08.6' W
from Alligator Creek entrance: 11 nm at 191°
from Ponce entrance: 12.5 nm at 185°
Navigation: Head toward Marker 5 then go due south towards Jug Creek Channel marker 91. From there, you will see the entrance to Jug Creek. Keep to the NE of the entrance and anchor in sand north of the Calusa Island Preserve (a mangrove island).
You can anchor in 2-6 feet of water, or raft up. This is a very protected anchorage from South winds and you can come up to the beach on the mangrove island (picnic tables, shade and even an outhouse!) or hang out in the shallow water and enjoy the day. Tide will be rising in the afternoon (High tide 1.1 ft at 4:00pm).
Chapter II (39' power catamaran) will be anchored by 12:30pm, we can be reached during the morning and afternoon via VHF channel 71 or cell: 312-493-5577
Chapter II will be anchoring here overnight on Saturday. Any other club boats are welcome to do the same.
Please REGISTER .... Kevin will give you any updates via text on the day of the cruise.
