Mixed Doubles & Dinner

From November to April (excluding December), join us for mixed doubles followed by dinner in the pavilion next to the tennis courts.
Watch your email in-box announcing the date & time each month.  You can also check the Tennis Club calendar for scheduled events.  These events are sponsored by the various Men's/Women's teams throughout the Winter season.

Ball Machine Training

As you may have heard already, we have a brand new ball machine for our members to use.

To keep the ball machine in working order, we are requiring members to be trained in its proper use before receiving the new combination to the ball machine locker.

After being trained, below are some reminders about using the ball machine:
  • Reserve the ball machine for court 1 using our Tennis Court Sign Up Sheet
  • Put your name on the clip board inside the ball machine garage prior to using the machine
  • If the courts are damp or there are puddles on the courts, do not use the machine as damp balls cause the machine to malfunction
  • Do not put your hands inside the machine as you might hurt yourself and/or damage the internals of the machine
  • If the machine is not working properly, put the machine away and text Jackie at 704-746-2064

This is a brand new machine and is functioning properly as of today.
Read the warning signs and instructional signage on the storage box and the machine.

Please treat the ball machine as if you personally own it to preserve its longevity for every club member to enjoy.

"Drills & Skills"

We have a Saturday morning opportunity for all Tennis Club Members on most Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM.

Gretchen Sunderland has organized a Saturday morning session to practice the skills and drills learned from Twin Isles coach Bob Blazekovic.  Gretchen will be assisted by Cindy Simoni and Janelle Anthony.  All participants are encouraged to share their tips for improving tennis kills during these Saturday morning sessions.

Typically she asks the group what they want to work on for the first 45 - 60 minutes with the ball machine.  Past topics include topspin, slices, returning lobs, volleys and overheads.  After that, they play some fun doubles and try to incorporate the skills just practiced.  You will also learn how to use the Club's ball machine.

If you want to join the group, please email Gretchen so you can be notified each week about the coming Saturday's activity.  gretchensun2@gmail.com
