HomeNewcomers - Activities

The Newcomers Club offers a variety of social activities to help new residents make friends and become comfortable in their adopted bit of paradise. Please join us for some (or all!) of these fun and engaging events!

Happy Hour takes place on the first and third Wednesday of each month. Members meet from 5-7 p.m. at various locations in Punta Gorda. There is a cash bar and 50/50 drawing. Prospective members are welcome.

* No registration required

The Ladies Lunch happens on the second Wednesday of each month. The chairperson of the event will choose a restaurant and send out an email with the details

Hosted Dinners are a great way to get to know a small group of Newcomers in a more intimate setting.
The invite usually consists of 6-10 people total. Hosted Dinners will be listed on the calendar and an email blast will be sent out well in advance. The host (not typically as a first timer), provides the main course and the others are assigned to bring an appetizer, salad, or dessert. Your Hosted Event is typically a dinner, but it could also be a brunch, a lunch, a picnic, or even scheduled at a restaurant, whatever you choose!

Newcomers have helped members start special interest groups or informal groups; Biking with Friends, Darts, Book Clubs, Pickleball, and Mahjong, just to name a few.
If you are interested in starting your own informal special interest group, or joining one that has openings, contact the Newcomer’s President or Vice President. They can help promote the activity through announcements at our gatherings or put you in contact with the correct person.
There are many opportunities to volunteer your time, whether it be for the Newcomers, the PGICA, Marine Watch or for the community.
There is usually a special activity event planned each month. From cheering on our local "Stone Crabs" (minor league baseball team) to enjoying a good belly laugh at a local comedy club or taking a Trolley Tour of Punta Gorda or an enjoyable boat ride on the Peace River just to name a few, you're sure to enjoy the good vibes of your new Home Town!
