On the Orange River with the Manatees at Manatee Park in Fort Myers
As you can see from the photos, Newcomers have done this trip before.
It's beautiful, not too long, and gentle paddling. This year we'll find the manatees on our own.
If it is your first time, don't worry! Plenty of members know the route, and beginners do great.
Saturday, January 3rd, 2-4 pm
$26 + $3.25 tax=$29.25 for single kayak
$52 + $6.50 tax=$58.50 for tandem kayak
If you prefer to bring your own kayak, there is no charge,
and you launch it yourself just around the corner from the Vendor Kayak Launch area.

1. Register here on Newcomer's site, then immediately do step 2.
2. To pay, go online to Manatee Kayaking Company Kayak Rentals (link below in blue button)
"KAYAK RENTALS" and make sure it is for January 3, 2026, click on "2 HOUR KAYAK RENTALS" and choose 2 pm. You're not guaranteed a spot until you pay online. SPOTS MAY APPEAR HERE ON NEWCOMERS SITE, BUT MAY ALREADY BE PURCHASED BY OTHERS ONLINE (the public can book online so we want to get signed up and paid ASAP to get Newcomers in the 2 pm rental slot). There are 34 single kayak rental spots and 24 tandem kayak rental spots.
3. Please email Nan Erb once you have paid online since we can't see who paid online.
If you are renting a tandem (double) kayak, please include the name of the person you'll be paired with when you register
If you are going solo and prefer a tandem kayak, please list the name of the person you want to be paired with
or let us know that you'd like to be matched with another solo paddler, we can connect you with others who are also looking for a partner.
Bringing your own kayak? Register here on Newcomers site and email Nan Erb so we know you will be launching elsewhere.
The launch is from land, and you will get a bit wet ( about knee-deep). Bring a change of clothes and a waterproof bag for phone.
Arrive 15-20 minutes early, parking is $5 for the day Carpooling is encouraged. And don't miss the gift shop!
Please bring a little cash for tipping.The launch helpers (optional).
If you would like to join us at the Boathouse Tiki Bar bar & Grill afterward, please note it during registration.
They don't take reservations, but we'll call ahead based on attendance.

Customers will receive a full refund or credit with 24 hours notice of cancellation. Customers will also receive a full refund or credit in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Contact us by phone or email to cancel or inquire about a cancellation. No-shows will be charged the full price.
