Raisin’ Cane Tours (a cooperative outreach program of the Clewiston Chamber of Commerce and US Sugar) will send their bus to pick us up at 7:30 am at the Walmart parking lot on Jones Loop Road and we’ll depart for Clewiston, FL (just over a one hour drive).  

On arrival we’ll make a convenience stop at the Chamber of Commerce and then our guide will introduce us to sugar cane growing, local farming history, processing and ecological initiatives here in Florida.  We’ll see the processing plant and sugar cane fields so wear flat closed-toe shoes for outdoor walking..  After learning all about the life cycle of sugar production, a local guide will introduce us to the history and current-day life of Clewiston and Lake Okeechobee. We’ll enjoy lunch (provided free of charge) followed by free time to explore the Chamber of Commerce museum and gift shop.  By mid-afternoon we’ll be headed back home to PGI with a new appreciation of the sweetener that adds so much pleasure to our lives.  Space is limited so reserve your seat on the bus now!
