PF - Choice Event - DeSoto Memorial Memorial Park
About this event
We all know that DeSoto and his band of conquistadors landed in Tampa Bay in 1539. But how much do you REALLY know about DeSoto and the conquistadors who explored Forida?
We will be visiting DeSoto Memorial National Park - the only National Park in America that is dedicated to telling the story of conquistadors in America. The living-history village and character actors representing the explorers and native American Indians will tell tales of how DeSoto's landing affected life in Florida all those years ago. There will be history20 minute video, demonstrations of weapons and tools of the period and scenic walking trails along the bay. Our reservation is at 10:30 am and it's an hour away from PGI. Admission to the park is free.
Following our visit to the park, we'll have lunch waterfront restaurant, Pier 22 a short drive away at 1200 2st Avenue in Bradenton. We'll dine outside if weather permits.
