Welcome to All PGI Residents

We are proud of our service to the Isles and Community since 1962 as an educational, cultural, and charitable resource.  Today we have nearly 4000 members and over 40 clubs and groups.

An anchor for a strong community.

Membership to the Punta Gorda Isles Civic Association is open to all residents of the Punta Gorda Isles including property owners, renters, year-round and seasonal residents.

Enriching Your Life:

  • The PGICA is a significant social network with over 40 Groups/Clubs. If you enjoy meeting people, we have 4 social clubs.  Do you own a boat, an antique car or an RV? Do you enjoy fishing, scuba diving, kayaking, bowling, playing tennis or knitting? We offer pinochle, bridge, canasta, euchre, poker and mahjongg clubs. If you don’t find what you want starting a new club is possible.
  • Every day opportunities to learn and be informed are offered through lectures, educational offerings, medical seminars and town hall meetings.
  • We offer a wide variety of classes which include fishing, art and oil painting, ballroom dancing, crafting, French lessons, guitar lessons, choir play, photography and even basket weaving.
  • Thinking about getting in shape? We offer Zumba, Yoga, Essentrics and Tai Chi classes.

Offering a Helping Hand:

  • Our Loaner Program offers our members the opportunity to borrow items for up to 30 days. Grandchildren coming to town?  We have car seats, strollers, pack ‘n plays, high chairs, booster seats, toys, bikes and life jackets. Having surgery?  We have walkers, wheel chairs, canes, shower chairs, toilet seats and knee rollers. Company coming? We have tables and chairs to lend, too.
  • Our Isles Girls and Guys Club organizes and manages estate sales in PGI and Burnt Store Isles.
  • Like sunshine on a cloudy day, our PGICA’s Sunshine ambassador reaches out with empathy.
  • We offer Community Health Services in conjunction with local hospitals. The Red Cross Bloodmobile is here several times a year, and we offer flu shots, first aid classes and other health related events.

Keeping You Informed

  • Our website provides timely information on happenings, latest news on the Association, live up-to-the minute calendar and links to groups’ and clubs’ pages.
  • Enjoy reading our monthly full-color newsletter magazine, The Commentator, with updates on Association activities.
  • Find your new friends and helpful information in our Annual Membership Directory.
  • Watch for our weekly informative email notifications.
  • Stay informed with reports from our Government Liaison who represents the interests of PGI at city meetings.

Supporting Local Community

  • We initiated the “PGI Shops Punta Gorda” program with local merchants who offer discounts to our members.
  • The PGICA is a popular location for events. Available to rent at reduced rates for our members are the auditorium, meeting rooms and outdoor pavilion. A wide range of events have been held here including weddings and receptions, birthday parties and celebrations of life.
