Fishing Club UpdateGetting up before the sun is something I look forward to, especially on Friday morning.  Friday is the day the PGI Fishing Club meets at Elena’s Restaurant for breakfast.  In the winter season we usually have around two dozen members.  This time of year, when the snowbirds are up north, it’s more like half that number. This morning we had a small but lively crowd.  To my right there was laughter and joking, to my left all the problems of the stock market were being solved and across from me the conversation was about running aground in the shallow waters of Charlotte Harbor.  I also heard something about the State of Florida extending the snook harvest closure for an additional two weeks.   The best thing about these early morning get together’s is after we solve the problems of the world, in about ninety minutes, we have the whole rest of the day to enjoy it.

If you are a fisherman, plan on attending the Punta Gorda Isles Fishing Club meeting September 14, as our guest. You will be warmly welcomed.  We meet at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month at the PGICA.  I’m sure you will appreciate why our members enjoy being part of this wonderful club.  For further information, check our newsletter or by contacting our membership director, Donnie Brennan at 575.8808 or via email at L3th@comcast.net

Family membership of only $20.00 per year has got to be about the best value you can find.  See you at the meeting.
