Friday Men’s Breakfast Club Donates Memorial Paver
Each Friday at 8am, a group of about thirty to thirty-five men meet for breakfast at the Skyview Café at the Punta Gorda Airport. This unofficial club has no structure or rules. Anyone can come, exchange greetings and discuss the events of the week. The original club founder, Pete McLewin said that the club started in 1997 with only four members, and has met every Friday since then, with the exception of several Friday’s immediately after Hurricane Charlie. Recently, one of their members, Jake Jacobus passed away. The members present at that Friday’s meeting decided to create a memorial for their longtime friend and took up a collection to purchase a brick paver at the Civic Center. A donation was presented to the PGICA and a paver inscribed in memory of Jake Jacobus will be installed shortly. Our thanks to the Men’s Club for their thoughtful donation.
